Folder Sorter
Tidies a messy folder into sub-folders by file type or by month. Preview first, nothing overwritten, every run can be undone.
What it does
Downloads full of PDFs, photos, WhatsApp voice notes and installers? Point Folder Sorter at it. In a second every loose file sits in a folder that says what it is.
- By type: Images, PDFs, Documents, Spreadsheets, Audio, Video, Archives, Installers, Code, Other.
- Or by month:
2026/2026-10/, from each file's last-modified date. - Preview first. Nothing moves until you say yes.
- Never overwrites. A taken name becomes
name (2).ext. Existing sub-folders are left alone. - Undo. Every run writes an undo file that puts everything back.
- Windows helper: drag a folder onto
sort-folder.bat.
Runs on your computer. No install beyond Python, no internet, files are never uploaded.
