How it works
Add GST (amount is before tax):
GST = amount × rate ÷ 100 Total = amount + GST
Remove GST (amount already includes tax):
Base = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate) GST = amount − base
Example: ₹1,180 including 18% GST → base ₹1,000, GST ₹180. In the same state that is CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90; to another state, IGST ₹180.
Questions
- What are the GST rates now?
- From 22 September 2025 most goods and services are at 5% or 18%. A 40% rate covers a short list of luxury and sin goods, and gold is at 3%. Some items stay at 0%.
- Where did 12% and 28% go?
- The GST Council merged them into the 5% and 18% slabs from 22 September 2025. If you still need an old rate, type it in the Other box.
- When do I charge CGST + SGST, and when IGST?
- Seller and buyer in the same state: CGST + SGST, half the rate each. Different states: IGST at the full rate.
- How do I remove GST from a price that already includes it?
- Choose Remove GST. The calculator divides by (100 + rate) and multiplies by 100 to get the price before tax.
- Is my data sent anywhere?
- No. The maths runs in your browser. The amount sits only in the page address so you can share the link.
